Chit Chatting with Helena P. Schrader

Chit Chatting With Author  Helena P. Schrader J: Tell us about yourself?  When did you start writing books? H:  I started writing when I was in primary school, but I made a conscious decision not to try to make a living as an author  before attending college . I feared that if I had to pay the bills by publishing, I would be forced to write what the market wanted rather than what was in me. I completed degrees in history and international commerce before finishing my education with a PhD in History from the University of Hamburg. My dissertation was on a leading member of the German Resistance to Hitler. I then earned my living by working as an analyst in international consulting, as an investment relations manager with financial institutions and finally as an American diplomat serving in Europe and Africa. I continued to write creatively, however, have published eighteen novels to date in addition to four non-fiction history books. J: Tell us about your...

Jesus VS. Zombies

Image
Jesus VS. Zombies Written by: Jill Sheets I was on social media on Easter when a question came up. If Jesus rouse from the dead, wouldn't that make him a Zombie? I have to admit I was taken back by this question. I had never heard this question before. I wanted to answer this person's question, but if you know me I try not to make waves. When I think about zombies, I think about brain-eating beings, like the ones in my favorite Zombie movie " Zombieland."   Zombies... Zombies... Zombies...  When you think about Zombies, is this how you see them? They walk slowly with their arm stuck out in front of them. Their bodies decaying, and they make moaning sounds. Let's just get real. If Zombies are real they would be mindless. They are not alive, but they are undead. It depends on what movie or show you are watching; even books can portray them differently. For some reason, I believe I saw a show or movie where the Zombies run, and there are some that fall in lo...

"Shuttlepod show:" A Podcast I Love Written by: Jill Sheets photo credit:  @simile_branding_photography As I get older, I find out there are shows, books, and people that I geek out about. I never thought I would become "one of those people," but I am now proud that I am in the large group of people who do—what a great family. My husband has gotten me addicted to shows that I never thought I would watch. My first one -- "Star Trek: Enterprise," is a fantastic show, and it has been one of my favorites ever since, and it will always be. Enterprise has an amazing and talented cast. I now look at IMDB to see what other shows or movies they have been in, especially Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer .  Now there is something else I get to geek out about. I am so excited - - A podcast that features Enerprise's Dominic Keating  (Malcolm Reed) and Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker). The perfe...

Interview With Neill McKee

Image
Interview With  Neill McKee     Jill: Tell us about yourself? How did you get your start writing? Neill: I started my career as a volunteer teacher in Sabah, Malaysia (North Borneo) during 1968-70. There, I became an international filmmaker and later a multimedia producer, working for development agencies and living in or traveling to countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Russia until 2013. I had written three technical books and many journal articles during my career, for example on the role of communication in defeating the HIV/AIDS epidemic. But I never had time to write creatively until I retired. I started by taking an evening course and drafting stories at St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland. After my wife and I moved to Albuquerque in 2015, I attended Master’s-level workshops in creative nonfiction and poetry at the University of New Mexico. That’s when I started writing stories for my Borneo travel memoir, one on my ancestors ...
