Invisible

Invisible Written by: Jill Sheets How odd it is to be able to walk through a whole church and no one notices you. When walking to get somewhere and there are people  all around. They knock into me not even saying they are sorry. Do I blended into the background or can they not see me. Setting down for a family meal Not a lot of them talk to me? I admit I can be shy, but it is a lot easier  if they start to talk to me or am I invisible? My husband sees me. My daughter sees me. who else see me? ©2017 JMS

Being Grateful

Image
Being Grateful By Jill Sheets Lately, I have heard different stories about Thanksgiving and how it came about.  One was about the Native Americans setting down with a meal with their new neighbors.  Another one was that it was a trap for the Wampanoag and Pequot, where the pilgrims killed 700 of them total.  I believe I read something about taking the Native Americans hostage or was the pilgrims the ones who were being taken hostage? Yes, sure there are other stories or theories out there, but I have to admit I do not know which ones are true or is there a combination of all of them.  Now yes, our history is important, but that is not what I will be talking about today .  Thanksgiving is a day for one to give thanks.  There is always something in everyone’s life where they can find something to be thankful for or grateful.  You may have to dig deep especially if you are depressed.  And trust me.  I know it is hard.  I have been dealing with depression most of my life, b

What Are Friends For?

Image
Picture source: Amazon.com What Are Friends For? Written by: Jill Sheets I was a huge fan of Selena Gomez. I would watch her TV shows, her movies and listened to her music.  She showed a lot of talent and I knew she would go far.  Slowly I stopped playing and listening to her music and looking back I am not sure why.  She has problems just like other people in the world; except that hers take place not just in private, but public. I hate to admit it, but I believe that I judged her. I found out that Selena Gomez has Lupus years ago, which is a serious autoimmune disease.  I guess I first heard back in 2014 when she was treated for Lupus with chemotherapy.  For some reason, I could not tell you if I should be mad at her doctors or her.  Yes, it was her choice, but that is not going to get rid of the disease, and I would think it would make you feel worse.  Recently, Selena was in the news again about her health.  I first noticed that she was in the hospital before

I Wish that Pea Did Not Hurt A Lot

I Wish that Pea Did Not Hurt A Lot Written by:  Jill Sheets I have been thinking of the princess and the pea, a lot. I think of it when I am trying to sleep, wake up or try to stand up. You may think that it is odd, but I will explain later.  But, first the story.  I found the story at:  http://childhoodreading.com/the-princess-and-the-pea/ The Princess and the Pea By Hans Christian Andersen There was once a prince, and he wanted a princess, but then she must be a real Princess. He travelled right around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were plenty of princesses, but whether they were real princesses he had great difficulty in discovering; there was always something which was not quite right about them. So at last he had come home again, and he was very sad because he wanted a real princess so badly. One evening there was a terrible storm; it thundered and lightninged and the rain poured down in torrents; indeed it was

Professional Patient

Professional Patient Written By: Jill Sheets I am a professional patient.  No... I am not a doctor, but a person that has had a lot of doctor appointments.  At times it seems like I live at my doctor's office.  I walk in, and they know me by name.  Whether this is a good thing or not, I still have not figured out.  It is hard to have to go to all these appointments, but there are things that people can do to make theirs run a little smoother. When setting up your appointment, if possible, get the first appointment of the day.  When you get the first appointment of the day, it is less likely that your doctor will be behind.  By doing this, it will also cut down on your wait time, especially when you have to go back to work or school when you are finished. The next thing you should do is write down any questions or concerns that you have.  That way you do not have to sit there and try to remember what you need to ask.  It is also good at this time to write down any

Who is Real and Who is Fake?

Who is Real and Who is Fake? Have you ever wondered who is real? Not fake. The information Or advice they give. Is it to help? Or Is it to work against you? What about the ones that say that you can talk To them anytime? Can you really? Do you have to watch what you say? Who is real and who is fake? I wish God would help me figure it out. Maybe a small glow of  purple if they are real And yellow If they are not. Do they give you a compliment. Then make fun of you behind your back? Who is real and who is not. I wish it was easy to tell.   © 2017 JMS

Spam or Not to Spam

Image
Picture source:  From Wikipedia Spam or Not to Spam Written by: Jill Sheets Growing up my mom was a hard worker.  She was a single mother of two girls.  Trust me… We could be a hand full, well at least me. My mom has told me that there were times when she did not know how she was going to feed us. But thank God there was always a way. Our family ate some interesting stuff, but I remember us liking it. For some reason, I want to say she had gone without food to make sure us kids had enough to eat.  One of the things that we ate was fried spam.   It was made into a sandwich, with mayo or miracle whip on it. For us that was the only way to eat it. When I was older, I cannot believe I ate it. But I guess you have to do what you have to do. Spam came from Austin, Minn and it is canned precooked meat.  This canned meat was first introduced in 1937 and became popular after its use during World War II.  To make things simple, Spam is chopped pork shoulder meat mixed with ha
It is Killing Me Writing by:  Jill sheets Tears rolling down my face as I kneel at my bed Feeling defeated. Frustration overcomes my body.  My eyes stinging as the tears overflow my eyes. Slow at first and then become quicker.  My chest tightens as I feel a panic attack coming on. Depression weighing on my shoulders attempting to fill my lungs so I cannot breathe correctly. The cells in my body being torn apart. Questioning my own existence. Their words on repeat in my head. How can someone treat another person this bad? © 2000 Jill Sheets
I Am Forgiven By Jill Sheets It is hard to understand I am forgiven. Even though  I do not deserve it. I am forgiven. For my past mistakes. When I am angry and not sure why. Walking in circles. I am forgiven. Even for the stuff I blame myself for. Needing to thank you every day. But falling short of doing that. I am forgiven. When I am upset with you. When I know that I am frustrating you. Even when I am taking back issues that I have offered up to you. I am forgiven. When I second guess not only me but you. I am forgiven. When I am clueless. What did you say? What am I suppose to be doing? Not sure that I am getting your messages. I am forgiven. © 2017 Jill Sheets

Good Samaritan

One of my favorite parts of the bible is The Parable of the Good Samaritan. I love the fact of people helping others. At times people don't help others because they do not know if that person is really in need or going to hurt them if they try to help. It is sort of like people asking for money on the street. Do they need help or are they later going to drive away in a new red Porsche? What does one do? Read below and see what Jesus says. Not about the car, but on helping others .   25  On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26  “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27  He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ [ a ] ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [ b ] ” 28  “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” 29  But he wanted to justi
