Chit Chatting with Melanie Faith

Chit Chatting with Melanie Faith  Interview With: Jill Sheets J: Tell us a little bit about yourself. M: I’m a December birthday, a mint-tea lover, a perpetual learner (and sometimes re-learner the hard way), and a terrible athlete (seriously: you would not pick me for your dodge ball, pickle ball, or any otherorganized team that involves running and depth perception acuity, and that’s fine with me). I’m much more a pen collector and a cozy cardigan-sweater wearer. I’m also an avid reader, writer, sister, auntie, daughter, photographer, tutor, teacher, doodler, and most of all: fellow writer.   J: Tell us about your book From Promising to Published: A Multi-Genre, Insider’s Guide to the Publication Process. M:I wrote the book to share some tips that have helped me and my creative-writing students as we trod the path to publication. I always hope to encourage readers both that their ambitions are worthy of all of their time, effort, and passion they invest as well as that there are mor

Chit Chatting with Barbara Barth

Chit Chatting with  Barbara Barth J:  Tell us about your book A Wingman for Christmas. How did you come up with the idea for this story?   B: I started this story in 2016 after I lost my mother. My mother had many birds over the years, but her Amazon parrot and his disappearance stayed with me. He came back home, strutting down Aviles Street outside her shop and it was a big hoopla for all the shops around her. I wanted to recreate something similar.   J: How did you come up with the characters?  Were any of them based on people that you know?   B: The closest to reality was the Mama character. Some of my mother’s personality quirks made it to Mama, but the character is totally fictional.   J: You have written many books. Please tell us a little bit about them. B: My first book was my widow memoir. Essays on my first year on my own. It’s quirky (one of my favorite words). Since then I’ve written a slightly naughty small town thriller – complete with a fried green tomato recipe at the

Chit Chatting with Catherine Forster

Chit Chatting with Catherine Forster J: Tell us about yourself and how you got your start writing? C: I am an artist, a filmmaker, a writer, a mother, a wife, and a kayaker who loves to bake. I suspect I’ve been an artist since the day that first crayon was placed in my hand, however, my journey to becoming a professional artist was not straightforward. Science was also one of my interests growing up. After catching a fish, I would dissected it. The same fate awaited frogs and snakes that had recently passed––not at my doing. I was fascinated by what one couldn’t see, what lay below the surface. Hence a microscope would ultimately become the tool of my first profession, microbiology. After a time, I grew tired of lab work and earned an MBA. That took me to London and years of business travel, with plenty of leisure travel to boot. Rewarding as it was, I always wondered whether I had something to offer in the field of art, and decided to find out. I earned a Master in fine Arts and have
