Cat in the Christmas Tree

Cat in the Christmas Tree Written by:  Jill Sheets   https://www.pexels.com/photo/green-christmas-tree-with-baubles-6139342/   I knew we shouldn't have put it up. I knew this would happen. In less than an hour -- We had a cat In the Christmas Tree. How proud he is, He is now batting at  One of the glass ornaments. We are just standing there Holding our breath. Waiting -- No one moving Not ever to get the cat down. Afraid of his sharp claws. War marks on our arms, face, And other body parts. Gasping. As the ornamentation falls. The cat looks at the ornament As it falls to the ground. Shattering on the wood floor B eneath the tree-- That took hours to decorate.  Now how many do we have left-- To watch fall to the ground? We hope there is enough To last through Christmas. We just need to make it that far.

Wanting to Cover the Mirrors

Image
Wanting to Cover the Mirrors Written by: Jill Sheets   I cannot look in the mirror-- all the scars, the imperfections. My chin is not like it was. Instead-- it is deformed. They took the growth out, but -- did not fix it the chin. You can see where he cut my chin. I find myself feeling like  a teenager. Wanting to look like someone else. You would think adults would have --  grown out of this. It is not all that bad -- I do love my eyes.

Follow You Written by: Jill Sheets    Picture credit:  https://unsplash.com/s/photos/ocean   I will follow you --  Through the oceans and lakes. Even though snow and rain.   Up the highest mountain-- That I can climb.   Though miles of desert sand. I would even walk though fire To reach out my hand towards you.   I will follow you -- Up to the stars, moons.   Walking towards you -- Step by step.   I will follow you. Let me know. Call my name. Putting a smile on my face As I do what you want me to do-- For your glory.   I will follow you. Show me the first step-- For today and every day after. I will follow you.     Other picture info:  OC Gonzalez @OCVISUAL

Shinning it's light on the people who are walking outside. Flowing in though the windows -- Of every house and building. Looking down on anyone that is looking up. I have always love looking up at the sky at night. I love looking at the moon -- And the stars. Where ever you are out -- At night -- Look up at the sky to see them. Even if it is for a glance. Do not take them for granted.

Favorite Scents of Candles

Favorite Scents of Candles  Written by: Jill Sheets  Picture credit: https://www.freeimages.com/photo/candle-heart-1315828  I did not start liking candles until I was in my upper teens. It was not because I did not like the smell of the candle, but I was afraid that I would knock it over when it was lit.  Now, I am just worried that a cat or dog doing that.    Most of the times when I light a candle it is remembering a person's birthday or passing.  I do like the smell of most candles, but I do have my favorites.  Here is my top five in no particular order.   Fruit candles Lavender  Pie smelling candles (like cherry, apple and pumpkin) Cinnamon  Ocean     I do not have a special reason I like those five.   It is not like they remind me of something.   It really does not go that deep.   I wish I could say that it does.   I wonder what type of candle I will light next time.  What candles do you like? Are there ones that remind you of a happy memory or is it

Being Scared of the Bible When I Was Younger

Being Scared of the Bible When I Was Younger Written by: Jill Sheets     When I was younger, my sister and I were sent to Arkansas for summer breaks. I remember having my sister’s bible.   I have no idea how I got a hold of it or even why I really had it. I like to think that she gave it to me.   I would sit in the living room by myself and read it after I did my soap opera homework. By watching them and mimicking what I saw.   I open the book to the first page, which was the beginning with the Old Testament.   Probably not the best place to start, but I had no idea about that at the time. Reading in the Old Testament, I slowly started to get scared. I seem to have put myself in their shoes.   Here are a few things that got me scared.   Remember, I was a child, somewhere between 1st and 3rd grade.   Let’s start in Numbers 15:32-36/ Leviticus (in many places throughout that section) you found people getting stoning to death.   I found myself feeling horrible for

The Kindness Diaries

The Kindness Diaries Written by:   Jill Sheets   Picture source:   https://willowschool.org/2019/09/13/the-power-of-kindness-leon-logothetis-speaks-at-willow/ Like many of you, there are days when I just want to set in front of the TV. Maybe it is too hot outside, raining or maybe you are in just one of those moods. Searching for a show or movie that will just make you laugh. A few years ago when I was passing kidney stones, I searched for a show that would keep my mind off the pain I was in. (Just a side note about kidney stones, they are so overrated). With little patience, I flipped as fast as I could through what was on Netflix. I stopped when I saw a show called “Kindness Diaries.” A lot of the time, I do not read what the movie and show are about, but the title pulled me in to read about it. It was about this guy Leon Logothetis, who traveled the world relying on the kindness of people for food, somewhere to sleep, gas along with other things he needed it except, he cou

My Past By: Jill Sheets   Picture source:    https://pxhere.com/en/photo/1351617 How can I celebrate my past?   Like many, I have suffered a lot of pain, situations I did not want to be in, and regrets.   Without my past, I would not have a beautiful daughter, a wonderful husband, and finally, a family that loves me (Karissa, you are also included). A family that is there for me even when I am at my worse, and not wanting to talk. They refuse to give up on me.   There is also my church family that I can turn to. Ones that are willing to talk, give me advice, and even pray for me, which means a lot to me because it is hard to ask for prayers for myself.   How about celebrating the relationships with my friends from a distant past or even the ones that I have met in the last 14 years? Making me laugh or smile. I really do not know where I would have been without all of them. Without God guiding me on my path none of this would have happened.   If I had done, wha

I do not want to be afraid By: Jill Sheets Picture source: :  https://www.rms.com/blog/2019/03/27/european-floods-and-the-relationship-with-the-north-atlantic-oscillation   When I was younger I was afraid of Killer Bees-- Tornadoes, earthquakes, moving waters, snakes in the toilet-- And -- Demons. Some of the fears are still with me today -- Along with new fears Squishing them all into one.  Seeing the fears when I close my eyes. When I have night terrors. Seeing snakes slithering out of the bathroom. Pythons moving up the kitchen cabinets. Water flooding the streets --  Cars and people getting pushed down in the water. Falling down the steps. Choking-- Losing my voice again And not coming back at all. Going blind. So many things. Demons -- Night terrors that fill my dreams almost every night, My first memory of them.  Waking up gasping for air. Losing people I love. Just covering a few. I try to give my fears to God --  But then I

What Event in History Would You Like to Witness

What Event in History Would You Like to Witness Written by: Jill Sheets Picture source: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/556968678913255016/ I came across a question on the Internet and I thought it would be interesting to answer. The question was “if you could have witnessed any event in history which one would you choose?” Little did I realize how hard it would be to come up with an answer. I could think of many people in the past that I would like to meet, however, events were another story. It took me weeks to figure this out. This question was on my mind throughout the weeks yet nothing came until the other day when I decided that I was not going to give up on this question, but I was going to find the perfect event that I would love to witness. That day when I was scrolling on the computer, I had looked up the greatest events in history. After I had gone through the list, I sat there wondering why anyone would call those the greatest events in history and tho
