Time to Reset-- Review

Image
Time to Reset Reviewed by: Jill Sheets         I was so excited to finally get the book “Time to Rest: A 21 Day Devotional to Renew Your Mind After Being Sidelined, Disappointed or Knocked off Course” by Karen Brown Tyson. The book came at the right time in my life, and it was something I needed.   I had lost my job over a year ago, so I could not wait to start to read the book and see what she had to say.     This is one of the best devotional books that I have ever read.   I love it. It was like Ms. Tyson was directly talking to me. This book is well written and easy to understand. The devotional is perfectly laid out, and you will have no problem following the book as you read it.     I loved how she talks about her personal experiences in this book to help us see the bigger picture. Along with her experiences, she has excellent advice, prayers and picks the perfect verses to go along with each one of th...

Save the Cat Course Review by: Jill Sheets     When I found out that I was getting to review the Save the Cat! Online-Course Cracking the Beat Sheet, I could not wait. I was excited to start the course, so I jumped right in when I got the link.  I wondered if it would stand up to all the "hype" that I had heard.    To answer my question, yes, it did, more than I could have imagined. I love this course.  It is the best writing course that I have taken, and I have taken quite a few.    The class is from Blake Snyder's book "Save the Cat! The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need!" Just a heads up, you will probably want to get this book before you start the course.  They do have reading assignments from the book.   This course will help you write your screenplays or novels with the 15 key "story beats," which will help you develop your story's roadmap. It will guide you step by step to accomplish ...

2021 Goals List Written by Jill Sheets     Picture source: https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-dream-big-set-goals-take-action-written-notes-colorful-image76212798   I cannot remember when I started to make a Goals List for the year. I either started in 2019 or 2020. Either way, it is now a tradition. Looking over the list that I wrote out the year before and adding the ones that I wanted to continue or did not accomplish to my 2021 list.   I will get all the goals on my list done this year. It may not be easy, but I am determined. Is it better to start with the "easy" ones, the ones that could take time to accomplish or work on them all at the same time? I have not made that choice yet, but either way, I better start soon.   I will not post my whole goals list because some of them may be a surprise, but I will tell you a few of them.   -- Interview with Dominic Keating. Getting the interview is the hardest one on my lis...

Hot Lava

Hot Lava Written by: Jill Sheets     Picture source: https://unsplash.com/photos/WQ5HOvrDZ6Y The games we use to play as a child.   Some we played with our siblings, friends, and even by ourselves. Some that are safe, and with one you can fall into "Hot Lava."   I cannot remember how many times my sister and I played this game when we were kids, but I can tell you that no one else was there when we did.   They would probably stop the game even before we started.   The only place we could play that had enough room was in the living room. We placed pillows on the floor.   We also took the cushions off of the couch and love seat and put them on the floor.   In this game, the whole goal was to get from Love Seat to the couch then back to the Love Seat without landing into the lava (the floor). Just the thought of that made me make sure I did not land in the hot lava.     That was the only time that I can rememb...

Cat in the Christmas Tree

Cat in the Christmas Tree Written by:  Jill Sheets   https://www.pexels.com/photo/green-christmas-tree-with-baubles-6139342/   I knew we shouldn't have put it up. I knew this would happen. In less than an hour -- We had a cat In the Christmas Tree. How proud he is, He is now batting at  One of the glass ornaments. We are just standing there Holding our breath. Waiting -- No one moving Not ever to get the cat down. Afraid of his sharp claws. War marks on our arms, face, And other body parts. Gasping. As the ornamentation falls. The cat looks at the ornament As it falls to the ground. Shattering on the wood floor B eneath the tree-- That took hours to decorate.  Now how many do we have left-- To watch fall to the ground? We hope there is enough To last through Christmas. We just need to make it that far.

Wanting to Cover the Mirrors

Wanting to Cover the Mirrors Written by: Jill Sheets   I cannot look in the mirror-- all the scars, the imperfections. My chin is not like it was. Instead-- it is deformed. They took the growth out, but -- did not fix it the chin. You can see where he cut my chin. I find myself feeling like  a teenager. Wanting to look like someone else. You would think adults would have --  grown out of this. It is not all that bad -- I do love my eyes.
