Dream Small

Dream Small

Dream Small By: Josh Wilson

[Verse 1]
It's a momma singing songs about the Lord
It's a daddy spending family time that the world said he cannot afford
These simple moments change the world
It's a pastor at a tiny little Church
Forty years of loving for the broken and the hurt
These simple moments change the world

[Chorus 1]
Dream small
Don't buy the lie you've gotta do it all
Just let Jesus use you where you are

One day at a time
Live well
Loving God and others as yourself
Find little ways where only you can help
With His great love
A tiny rock can make a giant fall

Dream small

[Verse 2]
It's visiting the widow down the street
Or dancing on a Friday with your friend with special needs
These simple moments change the world
Of course there's nothing wrong with bigger dreams
Just don't miss the minutes on your way, your bigger things
'Cause these simple moments change the world

[Chorus 1]
But dream small
Don't buy the lie you've gotta do it all
Just let Jesus use you where you are

One day at a time
Live well
Loving God and others as yourself
Find little ways where only you can help
With His great love
A tiny rock can make a giant fall

So dream small

[Bridge]
Keep loving, keep serving
Keep listening, keep learning
Keep praying, keep hoping
Keep seeking, keep searching
Out of these small things and watch them grow bigger
The God who does all things makes oceans... from river

[Chorus 2]
But dream small
Don't buy the lie you've gotta do it all
Just let Jesus use you where you are

One day at a time
Live well
Loving God and others as yourself
Find little ways where only you can help
With His great love
A tiny rock can make a giant fall....

Yeah, five loaves and two fish's could feed them all
So dream small
Dream small

I always joke that if God is talking to me, then he has to either hit me upside my head or send me a letter.  It doesn’t matter which kind, even a text would do.   And sometimes He does just that to make sure that I understand want he wants me to know.  You may wonder (or may not) wonder what this has to do with the song “Dream Small” by Josh Wilson?  Let’s start with the first time I heard this song.

The first time I heard this song my husband and I were going to a doctor’s appointment (go figure).  I was busy playing on my phone and listening to KLOVE.  At first, it was just a song in the background. Pretty much like all the songs that I do not know the words of, that is when I heard the lyrics:

“Find little ways where only you can help
With His great love
A tiny rock can make a giant fall”

I am not joking.  Out loud I said “Hey.”  Did God tell me what he wanted me to hear? Was this my imagination? If it was from God, he made sure I heard it loud and clear. Now let me back up a little.

I am the type of person who wants to help everyone.  I have no clue how, but that is something that has always been a part of me.   My husband has always told me to start in our community whether it is in our church or in Columbia. Whatever you do, then God will take it and make it bigger. He will make it reach farther. Okay, well, the song does say it better “A tiny rock can make a giant fall” Oddly enough, I am still trying to figure out the whole “Start Small,” but how?

How do you find out what you are supposed to do?  I know I am supposed to read or listen to the bible and pray.  Not sure if it would say in the bible… “Jill, get out there and rock babies at the hospital” or “go out and sing for people.”  Then again I could be wrong, then I am reminded God can do anything.

You may wonder why there are some highlighted words to this song.  That is because those where the lines that caught my attention. I love listening to this song, especially as while I write this.

Have you ever heard a message from God that seems just directed at you?  I am sure you probably have.  Remember you do not have to save the world.  All you have to do is dream small, and start one piece of it.
